b. Were Di (Repel the Gods)
The motto ‘were di’ was a battle cry of Duke John of Brabant. This motto was first used in the Battle of Woeringen, on the left bank of the Rhine, on June 5, 1288. With the motto under the grim wolf’s head, the airbase wanted to emphasize its connection with the people of Brabant.
